Volunteering

2. You would get to join a small but dedicated team here, helping people out in your local community. Taking them out for the day, or to the doctors or hospital appointments…or visiting relatives in hospital……

3. You would be joining an award winning charity. We have been lucky enough to gain the Duke of York’s Community Initiative award three times now….

Volunteering

You don’t need either of these if you want to come and help us out….Because if you want to volunteer for Gofar…You’re already a Super Hero to us. Fancy giving it a go….have a look at the following posts to find out about GoFar

Vehicle Update

We still have three of our accessible vehicles off the road after the break in before Christmas, which means we are restricted as to what group work we can do.

Further information has been given to us about the break in, this has been passed on to the police.

We have had some donations from people who had heard about the break in. We are very grateful for this, it means a lot and we can’t thank you enough for thinking of us.

Keep checking this page and our Facebook page for further updates

Christmas

Can we take this opportunity to wish all our individual members and user groups a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the trustees, staff and volunteers here at Gofar. Can we also thank you all for your continued support

We look forward to seeing you all on the buses in the new year

Christmas Coffee Morning

We held our Christmas Coffee morning last Friday (15th)

Really happy to say that we sold out of all of the cakes, buns, quiches etc that people made. We also held a raffle and a Christmas present lucky dip…al of which helped to raise a fantastic £224. Big thanks to everyone who came along to support us

Christmas Gift

Heptonstalls Solicitors gave us a fantastic Christmas gift on Friday 15th December.
The law firm, which has offices in both Goole and Pontefract, presented cheques to the value of £602 from fundraising efforts by its colleagues, which included donations of almost £250 raised by partner Shaun Pinchbeck, after he successfully completed the Great North Run in September.
Shaun Pinchbeck, partner at Heptonstalls, presented the cheque to Christine Dales our business manager.
He said:
“On behalf of all colleagues at Heptonstalls I’m delighted to be presenting a cheque to the Goole GoFar to help towards their valuable work in and around the Goole area.”
“At this time of year it can be incredibly difficult for the elderly and vulnerable to get out and about, so it is even more crucial to support Goole GoFar as they maintain such a vital link to the community.”
Christine Dales, said:
“In a week when one uncaring individual brought so much disruption to the Goole GoFar, our community have shown how much they do care about us and the people we help.
“Following our break in on Monday where four of our accessible buses were damaged, we were on Friday presented with a cheque from Shaun Pinchbeck on behalf of Heptonstalls solicitors, as part of their on-going fundraising efforts for the Goole GoFar.
“We really can’t thank Shaun and the entire team at Heptonstalls enough, it really has restored our faith in the community.”

Break In

Once again, some low life has decided to have a go at our buses….Result…4 accessible buses off the road.
This means we have had to cancel jobs with wheelchairs….outings for lunches etc etc.
It happened on Saturday 9th December between 20.00 and 21.00. He/she had come prepared to steal the catalytic converters as he/she had an angle grinder with them. So as well as having to let down the people that most need our service, it also means our insurance premiums will go up and we will have to turn down work until the buses are back on the road. Whoever did it…well done for disrupting a lot of peoples outings. I know it won’t bother you at all…you obviously have no conscience or you wouldn’t have stolen from a charity.
